Shanxi is accelerating the creation of a new highland for opening up in inland areas.

The 15 regularly operating China-Europe Railway Express trains from Shanxi have reached 16 countries and 48 cities. In 2023, the import and export volume with countries of the Belt and Road Initiative reached 71.7 billion yuan, an increase of 5.7% year-on-year, accounting for 42.3% of the province's total foreign trade value. The level of opening up continues ascending to higher levels.

In April 2024, multiple delegations from Shanxi Province traveled to countries such as France, Germany, and Spain. Adhering to the concept of open collaboration, they engaged in deep exchanges with enterprises in various fields including industry, economy and trade, and culture. They also learned about technology and experiences, explored cooperation opportunities, and accelerated the creation of a new highland for opening up in inland areas.

Through world-class exchange and promotion platforms, Shanxi has proactively engaged in deep exchanges and dialogues, enhancing Shanxi brand, conveying Shanxi voice, and showcasing Shanxi image. This has sparked a wave of enthusiasm in the trade and investment sector and laid a solid foundation for Shanxi to carry out exchanges and cooperation with European countries in various fields.
