The 35th Guan Gong Cultural Tourism Festival was Officially Opened in "Guan Gong's Hometown," Yuncheng City, Shanxi Province
On September 23, the 35th Guan Gong Cultural Tourism Festival in Yuncheng, Shanxi Province, was officially opened at the Guan Gong Hometown Cultural Tourism Scenic Area. Yuncheng is the hometown of Guan Yu, the famous general of the Kingdom of Shu during the Three Kingdoms period. It boasts the earliest established, largest, highest-ranking, and best-preserved palace-style temple complex dedicated to Guan Yu.
In recent years, Yuncheng has deeply explored Guan Yu's cultural value and innovatively organized tourism festivals, significantly enhancing its culture and tourism brand influence. Looking ahead, Yuncheng will take this Guan Gong Cultural Tourism Festival as a new starting point to further integrate culture and tourism, optimize cultural supply, and strive to cultivate the culture and tourism industry into an important economic pillar that enhances people's livelihood and well-being.
At the opening ceremony, the Guan Gong Culture Museum and the National First-Class Museum were unveiled, and plaques were awarded to six units that received the title of “Guan Gong Cultural Exchange Base.” A representative from the Taiwan organizer of the Cross-Strait Guan Gong Cultural Calligraphy and Painting Exhibition donated calligraphy works to the Guandi Temple in Haizhou. Meanwhile, cultural programs with distinct regional characteristics, such as the Jiangzhou Drum and Gong Performance “Guan Yu Goes to War,”were staged, adding a rich Hedong cultural atmosphere to the opening ceremony.
This 35th Guan Gong Cultural Tourism Festival will last for three days, with the theme of "Inheriting Guan Gong Culture and Promoting National Spirit." During this period, a series of activities such as the Guan Gong Cultural Theme Symposium will be held. Additionally, before and after the Cultural Tourism Festival, events like the Guan Gong Cultural Drama Exhibition and the 2024 Pu Opera Art Week will be staged, offering the public a cultural feast.
