According to data from online platforms, as of February 10th, the total box office (including presales) of the film Ne Zha: Demon Child Conquers the Sea (Ne Zha 2) has surpassed USD 1.152 billion, overtaking Aquaman to enter the top 30 highest-grossing films of all time globally. It is also the only non-Hollywood film in the top 30.
《哪吒》系列电影的角色设计师申威是山西太原的后生，出生于1986年，2005年以专业全国第一的名次考入中国传媒大学动画学院动画艺术专业，2009年因专业特长被保送为中国传媒大学动画学研究生。《哪吒》系列中，这些让人眼前一亮的角色设计，都有他的身影。在《哪吒之魔童闹海》中，一些角色和场景的设计，不仅充满了想象力，还与中华传统文化紧密结合。
Shen Wei, the character designer for the Nezha film series, is a native of Taiyuan, Shanxi Province. Born in 1986, he entered the Animation Art Major at the School of Animation and Digital Arts of Communication University of China in 2005 with the top score nationwide and was later admitted to the graduate program of animation at the same university in 2009 due to his exceptional talent in the field. His influence can be seen in the eye-catching character designs throughout the Nezha series. In Ne Zha: Demon Child Conquers the Sea (Ne Zha 2) , the designs of some characters and scenes are not only imaginative but also closely integrated with traditional Chinese culture.
申威表示电影中特意增加了具有东方美感的角色设计——章鱼和鲨鱼将领。将中国传统的纹样和绘画方式融入进去，让这个角色更有东方美感。在设计中兼顾群体特征和个体特色的统一，打造四海龙王的不同“个性色彩”，比如敖广属“水”，敖钦属“火”等等。同时为了让龙的动态更真实灵动，团队也从现实生物吸取灵感，例如蛇、蜥蜴、恐龙的特征都被融入到设计中。
Shen Wei revealed that the film deliberately included character designs with an Oriental aesthetic—specifically, the octopus and shark generals. These characters incorporate traditional Chinese patterns and painting techniques, enhancing their Oriental beauty. In the design process, the team ensured a balance between the unity of group characteristics and individual distinctiveness, creating different "personal colors" for the four sea dragons. For instance, Ao Guang is associated with "water," while Ao Qin is linked to "fire," among others. Additionally, to make the dragons' movements more realistic and lively, the team drew inspiration from real-life creatures, incorporating features of snakes, lizards, and dinosaurs into the designs.
