9th Pingyao International Film Festival Grand Opening

2025年9月24日，第九届平遥国际电影展在有着2800年历史的山西平遥古城隆重开幕。本届电影展以“汇合点”为主题，由平遥电影展有限公司与山西传媒学院山西电影学院联合主办，汇聚来自全球25个国家和地区的54部影片，展现电影艺术的多样性与创新力。

On September 24, 2025, the 9th Pingyao Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon International Film Festival (PYIFF) grandly opened in the ancient city of Pingyao, Shanxi, which boasts a history of 2,800 years. Under the theme “Meeting Point,” this year’s festival is jointly organized by Pingyao Film Festival Co., Ltd. and the Shanxi Film School of Communication University of Shanxi, bringing together 54 films from 25 countries and regions worldwide, showcasing the diversity and innovation of cinematic art.

开幕式在平遥电影宫举行，星光熠熠。冯小刚、曹保平、管虎等知名导演，辛芷蕾、马伊琍、姚晨等演员及嘉宾齐聚一堂。文学界代表李敬泽、刘震云、赵德发等也受邀出席，共同见证这一电影盛事。

The opening ceremony, held at the Pingyao Festival Palace, was star-studded. Renowned directors such as Feng Xiaogang, Cao Baoping, Guan Hu, as well as actors and guests including Xin Zhilei, Ma Yili, Yao Chen gathered together. Literary figures such as Li Jingze, Liu Zhenyun, and Zhao Defa were also invited to witness this cinematic event.

开幕式上，中共晋中市委书记常书铭、山西传媒学院党委书记王铁梅、中共平遥县委书记魏江峰分别致辞。演出环节精彩纷呈，橘子海乐队以《夏日漱石》开场，山西传媒学院学生表演了非遗舞蹈《雩·祭》，吴莫愁献唱《Price Tag》和《我用所有报答爱》，将现场气氛推向高潮。开幕短片《新年快乐莫德先生》全球首映，正式拉开影展序幕。

At the opening ceremony, Chang Shuming, Secretary of the Jinzhong Municipal Committee of the CPC, Wang Tiemei, Secretary of the Party Committee of Communication University of Shanxi, and Wei Jiangfeng, Secretary of the Pingyao County Committee of the CPC, delivered speeches respectively. The performance segment was brilliant: the Orange Ocean band opened with “Summer Cozy Rock,” students from Communication University of Shanxi performed the intangible cultural heritage dance “Yu · Ji,” and Wu Mochou’s performances of “Price Tag” and “Repay Love with All I Have” pushed the atmosphere to a climax. The global premiere of the opening short film, "Happy New Year, Mr. Wood," officially kicked off the festival.

冯小刚、野上照代获颁“卧虎藏龙东西方交流贡献荣誉”

Feng Xiaogang and Nogami Teruyo Receive “Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon East-West Award”

本届电影展特别授予中国导演冯小刚与日本电影制作人野上照代“卧虎藏龙东西方交流贡献荣誉”。冯小刚被赞为“市井里的悲喜雕刻师”，他在感言中表示：“拍电影是长跑，不是一时的得失，我会坚持创作。”野上照代因与黑泽明的长期合作而闻名，虽未能亲临现场，但通过信件表达感谢，由贾樟柯导演代为宣读，她幽默写道：“在这届电影展上能获得如此美好的荣誉……长寿确实有好处，深感荣幸。”

This year, the festival specially awarded the “Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon East-West Award” to Chinese director Feng Xiaogang and Japanese film producer Nogami Teruyo. Feng Xiaogang was praised as “a carver of joys and sorrows in the mundane world.” In his acceptance speech, he said, “Filmmaking is a marathon, not about short-term gains; I will persist in creating." Nogami Teruyo, renowned for her long-term collaboration with Akira Kurosawa, was unable to attend but expressed her gratitude via a letter read by Festival Founder Jia Zhangke, humorously writing, "Receiving such a wonderful honor at this film festival... Longevity certainly has its benefits, I am deeply honored."

53部影片呈现多元电影新声

53 Films Present Diverse New Voices in Cinema

影展创始人贾樟柯与艺术总监林旭东介绍了本届策展亮点。官方单元影片全球首映率达30%，亚洲首映率达62.5%，中国内地首映率为100%。姚晨、王俊凯、李敬泽等评审代表分别发言，表达对青年创作者与华语电影未来的期待。

Festival Founder Jia Zhangke and Artistic Director Lin Xudong introduced the curatorial highlights. 30% of the films in the official selection are global premieres, 62.5% are Asian premieres, and 100% are mainland Chinese premieres. Jury representatives like Yao Chen, Wang Junkai, and Li Jingze shared their expectations for young creators and the future of Chinese-language cinema.

贾樟柯还特别推荐了“平遥期待”影片《狂野时代》，称赞导演毕赣的创新精神。该片也将作为本届电影展的闭幕影片。

Jia Zhangke also specially recommended the “PYIFF to Watch” film “Resurrection,” praising director Bi Gan’s innovative spirit. This film will also serve as the festival’s closing film.

七日盛宴，电影与文化交流持续升温

A Seven-Day Feast: Film and Cultural Exchange Heats Up

未来七天，影展将呈现53部影片、28部短片，举办8场“大师·对话”学术活动，推出16个“平遥创投”剧本项目、15部“迁徙计划·从文学到影视”作品，以及9部“快手聚光短剧计划”优选项目。观众将有机会近距离感受电影的魅力，见证华语电影与国际影坛的深度对话。

Over the next seven days, the festival will present 53 films, 28 short films, host 8 “Masterclass” academic events, showcase 16 “Pingyao Project Promotion” script projects, 15 selected works for the “Literary Picturized Project,” and 9 selected projects for the “Pingyao Short-Form Drama.” Audiences will have the opportunity to experience the charm of cinema up close and witness in-depth dialogue between Chinese-language film and the international film industry.

第九届平遥国际电影展不仅是一场光影盛宴，更是一次文化与创意的交汇，为全球电影人搭建起沟通与合作的桥梁。

The 9th Pingyao International Film Festival is not only a feast of films but also a convergence of culture and creativity, building a bridge for communication and cooperation among global filmmakers.
