"The Charms of Shanxi & Fiji Rise in Unity" Celebrates the Chinese New Year: A New Chapter in China-Fiji Cultural Integration

2月10日，正值中国北方小年，“欢乐春节·晋韵斐扬”2026欢乐春节活动在斐济苏瓦市政厅礼堂举行。活动由中国文化和旅游部、斐济多民族事务、文化、遗产与艺术部联合主办，山西省文化和旅游厅与斐济中国文化中心承办。

February 10, on the day of the Little New Year in northern China, the “Happy Chinese New Year: The Charms of Shanxi & Fiji Rise in Unity” 2026 Happy Chinese New Year Celebrations in Fiji took place at the Suva Civic Center Auditorium. The event was co-hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China and Fiji’s Ministry for Multi-Ethnic Affairs, Culture, Heritage and Arts, and organized by the Department of Culture and Tourism of Shanxi Province and the China Cultural Centre in Fiji.

斐济多位政府部长、中国驻斐济使馆临时代办公使衔参赞汪元、多国驻斐使节及联合国机构代表等百余人出席。

Several Fijian government ministers, Mr. Wang Yuan, Chargé d'Affaires a.i. Minister Counsellor of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Fiji, diplomatic envoys from multiple countries, and representatives from United Nations agencies attended the event, totaling over 100 guests.

当地时间下午5时，来自中国山西的绛州鼓乐震撼开场。中国驻斐济使馆临时代办公使衔参赞汪元先生，斐济公共企业部、多民族事务、文化、遗产与艺术部部长辛格阁下先后进行致辞。

At 5:00 p.m. local time, a powerful performance by Shanxi’s Jiangzhou Drum Music kicked off the event. Mr. Wang Yuan, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. Minister Counsellor of the Embassy of China in Fiji and Hon. Charan Jeath Singh, Minister for Public Enterprises, Multi-Ethnic Affairs, Culture, Heritage and Arts of Fiji, delivered speeches successively.

汪元表示，愿与斐方深化互信、拓展合作、世代友好。

Wang Yuan expressed his hope to deepen mutual trust, expand cooperation, and foster lasting friendship with Fiji.

辛格阁下感谢华人社区贡献，赞赏中方支持，愿共创美好未来。

Hon. Singh thanked the Chinese community for its contributions, expressed appreciation for China’s support, and looked forward to creating a shared, brighter future together.

山西省文旅厅副厅长金璋视频致辞，期待以春节为起点深化山西与斐济文旅合作。

Jin Zhang, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Tourism of Shanxi Province, delivered a speech via video message, expressing hope to build upon the Spring Festival as a starting point to deepen cultural and tourism cooperation between Shanxi and Fiji.

2026年恰逢斐济中国文化中心与斐济国家邮政联合发行生肖邮票十周年，现场举行马年生肖邮票发行仪式。邮票由山西传媒学院高鹏教授设计，融合山西西周玉马、斐济国鸟国花等元素，象征中斐文化共鸣。活动还举办了“你好·中国——中斐文化与旅游影像展”文旅影像展。

As 2026 marks the 10th anniversary of the joint issuance of zodiac stamps by the China Cultural Centre in Fiji and Fiji Post, a launch ceremony for the Year of the Horse zodiac stamp was held on site. The stamp was designed by Prof. Gao Peng of Communication University of Shanxi, incorporating elements such as a Western Zhou jade horse from Shanxi and Fiji’s national bird and flower, symbolizing cultural resonance between China and Fiji. The event also featured the “Nihao China” China-Fiji Culture and Tourism Image Exhibition.

当地时间下午7时，中斐艺术家联袂献艺：山西歌舞剧院带来《红红火火过大年》《如梦云冈》《人说山西好风光》等舞蹈；孝义皮影木偶剧团献演非遗木偶戏《变脸》；新绛县西街实验小学鼓乐队奏响《秦王点兵》《滚核桃》。斐济艺术团体同台共演，中西合璧赢得满堂喝彩。

At 7:00 p.m. local time, artists from China and Fiji performed side by side: the Shanxi Provincial Sing and Dance Theater presented vibrant dances including A Joyful Chinese New Year, Dreamlike Yungang, and Shanxi's landscapes are praised as magnificent. The Xiaoyi Shadow Puppetry and Puppet Troupe performed the intangible cultural heritage puppet show Face-Changing. The Drum Ensemble of Xinjiang County West Street Experimental Primary School played Emperor Qin Reviewing the Troops and Rolling Walnuts. Fijian art groups also joined the stage, presenting a fusion of Eastern and Western cultures that earned thunderous applause.

今年是山西与斐济中国文化中心对口合作年，也是山西首次以“晋韵斐扬”为主题走进斐济开展山西春节文化推广。2月11日，苏瓦中国亭上演“欢春音乐快闪”，绛州鼓乐与斐济青年会鼓点激情对话。2月22日还将举办斐济庙会。

This year marks the Shanxi–China Cultural Centre in Fiji partnership year, and the first time Shanxi has brought Spring Festival cultural promotion to Fiji under the theme “Happy Chinese New Year: The Charms of Shanxi & Fiji Rise in Unity.” On February 11, a “Chinese New Year Music Pop-Up” took place at the China Pavilion in Suva, where the Jiangzhou Drum Music engaged in a spirited rhythmic dialogue with Fijian young drummers. A Fijian Temple Fair will also be held on February 22.

以乐为桥、以节为媒、以影传情，山西文旅正以系列文化交融活动跨越山海，在南太平洋奏响文明互鉴、民心相通的时代新声。

With music as a bridge, festivals as a medium, and imagery as a conduit, Shanxi culture and tourism are bridging vast distances through a series of cultural exchange events, sounding a modern chord of mutual learning and people-to-people connectivity across the South Pacific.
