Celebrate an Authentic Chinese New Year in Shanxi

Shuozhou continues its local characteristics by launching events like the Ying County intangible cultural heritage folk custom “Running Boat Lanterns,” conveying the New Year joy of families beyond the Great Wall through flowing light and shadow. Visitors can watch the Frontier Kick-drum Dance, listen to the Ancient City Yangge Opera, admire the Golden Suona performances at Ying County Wooden Pagoda, and experience the frontier New Year of "Ancient Rhythms of Shuozhou, Oasis beyond the Great Wall" at the Ice and Snow World at the foot of Guangwu Great Wall. The Shuocheng District Cultural Center will write couplets and “Fu” characters for citizens for free from February 10th to 12th, and the Shuocheng District Library will hold a lantern riddle guessing event on March 3rd.

忻州市聚焦忻州古城平台，集中展演来自各县（市、区）的非遗项目，打造一座流动的民俗博物馆。此外还有偏关古城大街1月15日至2月23日的年货大集，老牛湾景区2月10日至3月3日的冰雕艺术展，代县钟楼广场2月24日至28日的特色社火表演。

Xinzhou City focuses on the Xinzhou Ancient City platform, centrally showcasing intangible cultural heritage projects from various counties (cities, districts), creating a flowing folk museum. Other activities include the New Year's Goods Fair on Pianguan Ancient City Street from January 15th to February 23rd, the Ice Sculpture Art Exhibition at Laoniuwan Scenic Area from February 10th to March 3rd, and the characteristic Shehuo performances at Daixian Bell Tower Square from February 24th to 28th.

吕梁市举办文水县2月21日至23日的关帝庙传统庙会，孝义老城2月17日至28日的非遗春节民俗展演，贾家庄三皇庙2月11日至12日的非遗年货集、非遗展演等非遗活动。

Lüliang City hosts intangible cultural heritage activities such as the traditional temple fair at Guandi Temple in Wenshui County from February 21st to 23rd, the intangible cultural heritage Spring Festival folk exhibition and performance in Xiaoyi Old Town from February 17th to 28th, and the intangible cultural heritage New Year’s goods fair and performances at Jiajiazhuang Sanhuang Temple from February 11th to 12th.
