In the Year of the Snake (Yi-Si) in 2025, we celebrate a historic Spring Festival inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity list, adding a unique layer of significance to our time-honored festival. Shanxi Province has specially launched the "Shanxi Intangible Cultural Heritage Spring Festival Folk Custom Manual". Turning to the Xinzhou chapter, with the opportunity of the 240-hour visa-free policy, step into this enchanting city, immerse yourself in the infinite charm of its intangible cultural heritage customs during the Spring Festival, and experience the fullest flavor of Chinese New Year.
忻州春节非遗代表性项目包含挠羊赛、定襄面塑、二人台、庙会、云胜锣鼓等。其中，挠羊赛是一项群众性体育活动，由忻州传统的“角抵”演变而来。和摔跤相比，挠羊赛有两点较大的不同，一是不穿跤衣，赤膊上场；二是游戏规则简单，裁判权力不大。定襄面塑多为浮雕式，宜于平放或吊挂。风格粗犷朴素、形象简练概括、朴实丰厚、天真烂漫，每件作品都有一种雅拙的原始美。云胜大锣鼓是流行于晋北的传统鼓乐，表演形式别具一格、亮丽多变，生动有趣地表现了晋北地区劳动人民的生活情趣。
The representative intangible cultural heritage projects during the Spring Festival in Xinzhou include the Naoyang Wrestling, Dingxiang Dough Sculptures, Errentai Opera, Temple Fairs, and Yunsheng Gongs and Drums. Among them, Naoyang Wrestling is a mass sports activity evolved from Xinzhou's traditional "jiaodi" (a form of wrestling). Compared to wrestling, Naoyang Wrestling has two major differences: first, participants wrestle bare-chested without wearing wrestling attire; second, the game rules are simple, and the referee's authority is limited. Dingxiang Dough Sculptures are mostly relief sculptures suitable for flat placement or hanging. They feature a rugged and simple style, concise and general images, a down-to-earth and rich appearance, and a naive charm. Each piece possesses an elegant and primitive beauty. Yunsheng Gongs and Drums Performances are traditional drum music popular in northern Shanxi. Their unique and varied performance forms vividly depict the life and interests of working people in northern Shanxi.
同时为庆祝非遗春节，忻州市精心策划了一系列非遗庆祝活动。2025年2月5日—6日在忻州古城开展交流演出，包括晋北鼓吹等传统舞蹈类、传统音乐类项目。2024年11月—3月在宁武县东寨、悬空村举办东寨最美中国年，悬空村春节及正月民俗嘉年华等一系列民俗活动。2025年1月28日—2月12日在忻州古城关帝庙戏台举办河曲二人台演出。2025年1月28日—2月12日在忻州古城南北大街举办“中国年在忻州”春节主题活动，包含春节元宵民俗演艺、晋北鼓吹等行进式表演。
To celebrate the Intangible Cultural Heritage Spring Festival, Xinzhou City has meticulously planned a series of events. From February 5th to 6th, 2025, exchange performances will be held in Xinzhou Ancient City, featuring traditional dance and music programs such as the Northern Shanxi Suona Ensemble. Between November 2024 and March 2025, a series of folk activities, including the "Beautiful Chinese New Year in Dongzhai" and the "Folk Carnival in Xuankong Village during the Spring Festival and Lunar New Year," will be held in Dongzhai and Xuankong Village, Ningwu County. From January 28th to February 12th, 2025, Errentai Opera performances will be staged at the opera stage of the Guan Di Temple in Xinzhou Ancient City. Additionally, from January 28th to February 12th, 2025, the "Chinese New Year in Xinzhou" Spring Festival theme event will be held on the North-South Street of Xinzhou Ancient City, incorporating folk performances such as the Spring Festival and Lantern Festival folk arts and the Northern Shanxi Suona Ensemble parade.
