1.Hukou Waterfall

When the Yellow River reaches Ji County, Linfen City in the southwest of Shanxi province, it suddenly narrows to just over 20 meters, and the waterfall falls as high as more than 30 meters. That's why people think “the Yellow River of the section suddenly narrows as if pouring down from a huge teapot”. Hukou Waterfall is also the largest golden waterfall in the world.

2.YunchengSaltLake

“Salt Lake City” is not only in Utah, USA, Yuncheng, Shanxi is the Chinese version of Salt Lake City. Yuncheng Salt Lake is known as one of the world’s three largest sodium sulfate inland salt lakes together with Kuchuk Salt Lake in Siberia, Russia, and Great Salt Lake in Utah, USA. Due to the lake's salt content being close to the “Dead Sea” in the Middle East, people can float in the water without sinking. So it is known as “China's Dead Sea”.

3.Luya Mountain

Luya Mountain is named for its highest peak stacked like an asparagus shoot. Luya Mountain has nine series of landscapes, integrating a National Geological Park and a National Forest Park. It is the most complete and primitive ecologically preserved area in North China, and is known as “the Green Pearl on the Loess Plateau”. The ice cave in Luya Mountain dating back to 3 million years ago is praised as “the Fourth Pole of the Earth after the South Pole, the North Pole, and Mount Qomolangma”.

4.Taihang Mountain Grand Canyon

The Grand Canyon of Huguan Taihang Mountain is situated at the junction of Shanxi and Henan provinces. It was once rated as one of the “Top 10 Most Beautiful Canyons in China”. It not only has a magnificent atmosphere similar to the Grand Canyon of Colorado but also has abundant vegetation like that of the Grand Canyon of Sumidero in Mexico. The main gorge is 35 kilometers long from east to west, connecting more than 400 scenic sites. With a forest coverage rate as high as 74.9%, the canyon contains more than 130 protected animals at many levels.

5.Hengshan Mountain

Hengshan Mountain is located 10 km south of Hunyuan County, Datong City, Shanxi Province, and is known as the “Five Sacred Mountains of China” together with Taishan Mountain, Huashan Mountain, Hengshan Mountain in Hunan Province, and Songshan Mountain. Hengshan Mountain in Shanxi Province is the highest among the Five Sacred Mountains, known as “the First Mountain in the North Area of the Great Wall”. There have been no less than a thousand major wars here in history, in which 13 emperors personally led their troops to fight here. The mountain is also a famous mountain of Taoism. It is said that Zhang Guolao, one of the Eight Immortals of Taoism in ancient China, lived here in seclusion to practice Taoist rules.
