The 5A Tourist Attraction in Shanxi(A World-Class Premium Destination in China) - Mount Yun
Located in Linfen City, Shanxi Province, Mount Yun boasts a total area of 210 square kilometers, with the main developmented area of 35 square kilometers. The highest peak, the Jade Emperor Temple, is 1,629 meters above the sea level. Mount Yun is rich in natural resources, cultural landscape and cultural heritage. It is one of the few comprehensive tourist resort scienic areas in south Shanxi Province that integrates the functions of tourism, leisure, entertainment, vacation, health, folk experience, cultural exchange and so on.
Mount Yun is a geographical landmark of Huaxia's indigenous culture. It has 11 well-preserved ancient villages dating back over a thousand years, forming a unique and rare cluster of ancient villages and towns characterized by cave dwellings in southern Shanxi. The local area also inherits rich folk customs, including wedding and childbirth rituals, community sacrifices, and blessing ceremonies. Notably, the "Zhonghe Festival," which originated in the Tang Dynasty, has been recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage and handed down to this day.
The natural scenery of Mount Yun is also breathtaking. It is home to China's largest natural ice cave and wind cave complex. The unique karst landforms and rocky mountain forest environment give rise to various distinctive peaks and landscapes. The cliffs are a paradise for rock climbing enthusiasts. Additionally, Mount Yun boasts abundant hot springs and waterfall resources, offering tourists a perfect place to relax and enjoy the blessings of nature.
In December 2020, Mount Yun Scenic Area was designated as a national AAAAA-level tourist attraction by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China, becoming the second in Linfen City and the ninth in Shanxi Province to achieve this national 5A-level status. Mount Yun is a rare and excellent destination for tourists who love both natural scenery and historical culture.
