Jinyang Ancient City Archaeological Museum is located in Jinyuan District, Taiyuan, Shanxi province. Jinyang Ancient City Archaeological Museum focuses on the history and culture of Jinyang City. It integrates the functions of archaeology, collection, exhibition, preservation, research, education and cultural tourism, and displays some important archaeological discoveries, such as the second building base site of Jinyang ancient city, the mausoleum of the Han Dynasty and its accompanying tombs, and the tomb of Guo Xing in the Tang Dynasty. Nearly 1,000 pieces of artifacts are on display.
The museum has a construction area of 12,535 square meters, which is divided into three major zones according to its functions: core exhibition design zone, temporary exhibition function zone, and heritage conservation and public service zone. Based on the theme of “Ancient City”, the exhibition is divided into five parts, namely, Zhaojian Jinyang, The Renowned Capital of Bingzhou, The Separate Capital of the Hegemony, The Northern Capital in the Flourishing Tang Dynasty and The Splendid and Prosperous Taiyuan. With an interpretative way that combines knowledge, artistry and amusement, the exhibition focuses on the archaeological discovery of the Jinyang Ancient City, highlights the value of the Jinyang culture in China's outstanding traditional culture, interprets the characteristics of the integration of the Chinese civilization reflected by the Jinyang Ancient City and its role in the formation of sense of community for the Chinese nation, and demonstrates the splendid history of Jinyang.

Opening hours: 9:00-17:00, No entry after 16:30. Closed on Mondays (except public holidays)
