College of Mechanical Engineering Held Exchange Seminar with Professor Muhammad Hadi from the University of Wollongong, Australia

To further advance the internationalization of higher education, continuously deepen inter-institutional collaboration, and strengthen the foundation of Sino-foreign cooperative education, Professor Muhammad Hadi from the University of Wollongong (UOW), Australia, was invited to visit the College of Mechanical Engineering of TYUT for an exchange seminar on the afternoon of April 23. The seminar was attended by Ding Hua, Associate Dean of the College; Jiao Shaoni, International Affairs Secretary; Shang Qinqin, from the Operations Support Office; and faculty representative Wang Zhong.

At the outset of the seminar, Ding Hua extended a warm welcome to Professor Muhammad Hadi, expressing sincere gratitude for his dedication to frontline teaching and his support for the cultivation of students in the College’s Sino-foreign cooperative education program. She systematically reviewed the current achievements of the cooperative education project between the two sides. Ding noted that Sino-foreign cooperative education serves as an important vehicle for cross-cultural educational integration, not only introducing high-quality international educational resources and broadening students’ academic perspectives but also continuously strengthening the strategic partnership between the two sides, thereby laying a solid foundation for cultivating versatile mechanical engineering talents with global competitiveness.

During the exchange, Jiao Shaoni focused on explaining the policies related to the Chinese Government Scholarship for Short-term Research Exchange Programs, expressing the hope that such programs would facilitate regular faculty and students exchanges, research collaborations, and other academic activities. Shang Qinqin engaged in in-depth discussions with Professor Hadi on practical issues such as student training, applications for overseas postgraduate studies, and the improvement of students' English proficiency, exchanging insights and practical experiences.

At the conclusion of the seminar, the College presented Professor Muhammad Hadi with a gift of hand-tearable steel cultural and creative products. This gift, representing the College’s innovative achievements in advanced materials technology, not only showcased cutting-edge industry developments but also conveyed the College’s best wishes for further deepening collaboration between the two sides. In return, Professor Hadi presented a commemorative gift, further strengthening the cooperative relationship between the two sides.

During his visit, Professor Muhammad Hadi also taught a specialized course, Solid Mechanics, to the 2024 cohort of undergraduate students enrolled in the College’s Sino-foreign cooperative education program. In his teaching, Professor Hadi integrated cutting-edge engineering case studies from Australia and around the world, closely linking theoretical knowledge with engineering practice. He actively encouraged students to engage in English exchanges and interactions. The classroom atmosphere was dynamic, the teaching effectiveness was strong, and the course significantly enhanced the international quality of instruction.

Moving forward, the College of Mechanical Engineering will take this exchange as an opportunity to continue deepening practical cooperation with international universities, further optimize joint training models, enrich international teaching resources, and strive to cultivate high-quality innovative talents with a global outlook and strong comprehensive abilities, thereby steadily elevating the College’s level of international education.
