The First Joint Archaeological Cooperation Agreement Between Shanxi and an Overseas Institution Has Been Signed
On October the 12th, the Shanxi Provincial Institute of Archaeology signed an archaeological cooperation agreement with Fergana State University in Uzbekistan. This marks the first archaeological collaboration between Shanxi, a major province in cultural relics, and an overseas institution. The two parties will strengthen cooperation in joint archaeology, talent training, scientific archaeology and cultural relics protection, exhibition display, and other aspects.
Ahmadaliyev, Vice Rector of Fergana State University, expressed that this archaeological cooperation agreement will promote the development of archaeology at the university and contribute to the cultural construction of the "Belt and Road" Initiative in Uzbekistan. Fan Wenqian, Director of the Shanxi Provincial Institute of Archaeology, expressed his hope for continued deepening of exchanges and cooperation. Bai Xuebing, Deputy Director of the Shanxi Cultural Relics Bureau, stated that this signing is a practice by Shanxi's archaeological institutions in responding to the "Belt and Road" Initiative and promoting the "bring in" and "go global" of archaeological work. It also represents the first step taken by Shanxi's archaeological institutions in actively collaborating with overseas institutions on archaeological projects.
During this period, Professor Isomiddinov from Fergana State University delivered an academic report. The report introduced the archaeological discoveries of Neolithic remains and early Bronze Age sites in the southern region of Central Asia, and systematically reviewed the structural layout, functional forms, and cultural connotations of the settlements and city sites in this area.
