Shanxi Brick Carving Art Class: Unveiling the Timeless Beauty of Ancient Architecture in Carved Moments

山西砖雕，承载着千年晋商文化的厚重底蕴，是中国传统建筑装饰艺术的瑰宝。2008年，太原砖雕（山西民居砖雕）被列入第一批国家级非物质文化遗产名录，其精湛的雕刻技艺和浓郁的地域特色，被誉为“南徽北晋”之一绝。

Shanxi brick carving, carrying the profound heritage of the thousand-year-old Shanxi merchant culture, is a treasure of traditional Chinese architectural decorative art. In 2008, Taiyuan brick carving (Shanxi residential brick carving) was inscribed on the first list of National Intangible Cultural Heritage. Renowned for its exquisite carving techniques and strong regional characteristics, it is hailed as one of the "Southern Anhui and Northern Shanxi" masterpieces.  

山西砖雕以青砖为画布，刻刀为笔，通过浮雕、透雕、圆雕等技法，将花鸟鱼虫、人物故事、吉祥纹样镌刻得栩栩如生。从选料、制坯到雕刻、烧制，需经历12道工序、30多个环节，每一刀都凝聚着匠人的智慧与耐心。晋韵砖雕艺术博物馆珍藏的2000余件砖雕作品，既有传统建筑构件，也有融入现代元素的创新之作，如《黑神话：悟空》主题砖雕，让古老技艺焕发新生。

Shanxi brick carving uses blue bricks as its canvas and carving knives as its brushes. Through techniques such as relief carving, openwork carving, and round carving, it vividly depicts flowers, birds, fish, insects, human stories, and auspicious patterns. From material selection, block preparation to carving and firing, it undergoes 12 processes and more than 30 steps, with each cut embodying the craftsman's wisdom and patience. The Jinyun Brick Carving Art Museum houses a collection of over 2,000 brick carving works, including both traditional architectural components and innovative pieces that incorporate modern elements, such as brick carvings themed around "Black Myth: Wukong," which breathe new life into this ancient craft.  

近年来，山西多地开展砖雕研学活动，让青少年近距离感受非遗魅力。2024年，太原市小店区第三实验小学的学子们在晋韵砖雕博物馆体验砖雕制作，亲手在石膏板上刻出传统纹样。同年，三晋小学的“非遗展魅力，晋韵我自豪”研学活动，也让学生们惊叹于砖雕师傅的精湛刀工。此外，太原旅游职业学院、太原师范学院等高校与晋韵砖雕博物馆合作，设立实训基地，培养新一代传承人。

In recent years, various regions in Shanxi have launched brick carving study tours to allow young people to experience the charm of intangible cultural heritage up close. In 2024, students from No. 3 Experimental Primary School in Xiaodian District, Taiyuan experienced brick carving at the Jinyun Brick Carving Museum, personally engraving traditional patterns on gypsum boards. In the same year, the "ICH Unveils Its Charm, Take Pride in Shanxi Culture" study tour organized by Sanjin Primary School also left students in awe of the exquisite carving skills of the brick carving masters. Additionally, institutions such as Taiyuan Vocational College of Tourism and Taiyuan Normal University have collaborated with the Jinyun Brick Carving Museum to establish training bases, nurturing a new generation of inheritors.
