On April 13, 2025, the Expo 2025 Osaka officially opened in Japan, bringing together 158 countries and 7 international organizations to present a cross-cultural feast for visitors. Among the many pavilions, the Swiss Pavilion, Saudi Arabia Pavilion, Philippines Pavilion, and Netherlands Pavilion stood out with their distinctive designs and cultural significance.

Swiss Pavilion: The Lightest Pavilion

The Swiss Pavilion captivated visitors with its lightweight and eco-friendly design. Composed of five bubble-like aluminum foil spheres, it is hailed as the “lightest architectural structure in history”. The design seamlessly blends nature, culture, and human construction, appearing as if it is both embedded in and growing from nature.

The highly modular construction method not only facilitates assembly and disassembly but also ensures maximum resource efficiency, fully embodying the concept of sustainability.

Saudi Arabia Pavilion: A Fusion of Tradition and Modernity

The Saudi Arabia Pavilion impressed with its unique architectural form and immersive experience. Inspired by the organic shapes of traditional Saudi villages, the pavilion’s spatial design mirrors the journey of exploring a Saudi town, offering visitors a deeply engaging cultural environment.

Additionally, the pavilion utilized CFD simulation technology to optimize its ventilation system, channeling westerly winds in the hot summer and blocking northern winds in spring and autumn. This innovation not only enhances visitor comfort but also showcases Saudi Arabia’s ability to harmonize tradition with modern technology.
