Spring Rambles in Shanxi: Yuncheng

冬尽春归，风上花梢头。初春的山西土地上，乍暖还寒，黄土地上的苍凉给人一种完全不同于江南初春的景象。在辽阔的山西大地上，晋南的运城总是率先领略到春的讯息。

As winter ends and spring returns, the breeze brushes over the blossoming treetops. In the early spring of Shanxi, the vast, loess landscape exudes a sense different from the southern China. Across the expansive land of Shanxi, Yuncheng in southern Shanxi is always the first to feel the breath of spring.

五老峰

三月的五老峰，是春天最先抵达的地方。山谷里百花竞放，处处生机盎然。沿着山径缓行，苍穹之下，云海翻涌，连接天际，山峰与森林在云雾中若隐若现，恍若仙境。满山的松杉与耸峙的峰峦，与险峻的崖壁相映成趣，构成春日里的第一道风景。而那漫山遍野的新绿，便是春天的底色，繁花点缀其间，为山川增添了无限光彩。

In March, the Wulao Peaks is a spectacle of blooming flowers, brimming with vitality. In the valleys, a riot of colors unfolds as various flowers compete to blossom. Beneath the vast sky, seas of clouds merge with the horizon, with peaks and forests appearing and disappearing amidst the mist. The mountain’s pines and firs, towering peaks, and steep cliffs form the first scene of spring. The fresh greenery serves as the backdrop of the season, while blossoms add boundless brilliance to the springtime scenery.

七彩盐湖

Colorful Salt Lake

早春时节，气温回升，从空中俯瞰七彩盐湖，宛如大自然的调色盘，色彩斑斓，美不胜收。乘坐“盐湖号”小火车，透过全景车窗缓缓前行，湖光山色在眼前流转，仿佛驶入童话世界。漫步于盐湖东岸的亲水栈道。脚下是清澈湖水，远方是天光云影，恍若行走在“天空之镜”。而当日暖夜寒、气温骤降时，湖面便会析出晶莹剔透的盐晶，如雪花般轻盈绽放，铺满湖岸，这便是运城盐湖独有的“硝花”奇观——冬春交替时节最动人的告别礼。

In early spring, as temperatures rise, a bird’s-eye view reveals the Colorful Salt Lake transforming into nature’s palette, vibrant and breathtakingly beautiful. Aboard the Salt Lake Train, you can enjoy panoramic views of the lake through large windows, as if journeying into a fairytale world. Strolling along the waterfront boardwalk on the eastern shore feels like walking on a “mirror of the sky.” When temperatures suddenly drop, the lake’s surface crystallizes into shimmering salt crystals, blooming like snowflakes along the shores. This unique phenomenon, known as “nitre flowers,” is a signature wonder of the Yuncheng Salt Lake.
