The Main Pavilion “Grand Ring” of Expo 2025 Osaka: All Nations Standing Under the Same Sky

2025年4月13日，日本大阪迎来一场举世瞩目的盛会——大阪世博会。本届世博会的核心建筑“大屋根”——由日本知名建筑师藤本壮介设计的巨型木制环状廊道，以其独特的设计理念和精湛的木构工艺，不仅获得了吉尼斯“全球最大木造建筑”的认证，更以其深厚的文化内涵和现代创新精神，向世界展示了日本的传统魅力与未来愿景。

On April 13, 2025, Osaka, Japan, hosted the highly anticipated Expo 2025. At the heart of this global event stands the “Grand Ring”, a colossal wooden ring-shaped corridor designed by renowned Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto. The expo’s symbol Grand Ring, also a Guinness World Record holder as the “world’s largest wooden structure”, captivates the world not only with its architectural grandeur but also with its profound cultural significance, embodying Japan’s traditional craftsmanship and forward-looking vision. 

传统工艺的现代表达

A Modern Interpretation of Traditional Craftsmanship  

“大屋根”的设计灵感来源于京都清水寺的木造舞台，采用了日本传统的“贯”工艺。通过柱梁纵横交错的网格状组装方式，建筑既展现了木结构的坚固性，又呈现出优雅的美感。站在“大屋根”下仰望，平缓的曲线与精致的节点清晰可见，仿佛在诉说着日本木构建筑的历史与智慧。这种将古老工艺融入当代建筑的手法，不仅延续了传统，更让历史在现代空间中焕发新生。

The design of the Grand Ring draws inspiration from the wooden stage of Kyoto’s Kiyomizu-dera Temple, incorporating Japan’s ancient “Nuki” joint technique. Its intricate lattice framework, formed by interlocking beams and pillars, showcases both structural resilience and aesthetic elegance. Looking up from beneath the Grand Ring, visitors can admire the gentle curves and meticulously crafted joints—a testament to the timeless artistry of Japanese wooden architecture. By weaving traditional techniques into contemporary design, the structure breathes new life into history while honoring its legacy.

作为世博会的交通枢纽与灵魂空间，“大屋根”连接了园区内的各个场馆与广场，承担着引导人流的重要功能。其屋顶被设计成一个绿意盎然的“空中花园”，覆盖着丰富的绿植和花卉，为游客提供了远眺濑户内海和俯瞰大阪湾的绝佳视角。在这里，游客可以欣赏到会场、大海与天空交织的壮丽景色，感受自然与人文的和谐共存。

As the expo’s central hub, the Grand Roof seamlessly connects pavilions and plazas, guiding the flow of visitors throughout the site. Its rooftop transforms into a lush “sky garden”, adorned with vibrant greenery and flowers, offering panoramic views of the Seto Inland Sea and Osaka Bay. Here, guests can immerse themselves in a breathtaking landscape where the expo grounds, ocean, and sky converge in perfect harmony.
