In the most beautiful time of spring, the Qingming holiday offers the perfect opportunity for a spring outing. To cater to the diverse travel needs of visitors, the Shanxi Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism has meticulously designed and launched four premium travel routes: “Architectural Splendors,” “Family Spring Outing,” “Breathtaking Landscapes,” and “Tracing Civilizations.” These four routes connect the province’s finest cultural and tourism resources, inviting you to explore the majestic landscapes of Shanxi and immerse yourself in the profound and radiant depth of Chinese civilization.

线路一：土木华章之旅

Route 1: Architectural Splendors Journey

云冈石窟—华严寺—大同古城—悬空寺—应县木塔—五台山

Yungang Grottoes – Huayan Temple – Datong Ancient City – Hanging Temple – Yingxian Wooden Pagoda – Wutai Mountain

此线路以古建艺术为核心，堪称一部行走的中国古代建筑史诗。云冈石窟气势恢宏，北魏造像惊艳世人；华严寺殿宇雄浑，尽显辽金古建之大气；漫步大同古城，青砖黛瓦间流淌着千年烟火。悬空寺凭险而建，凌空千载堪称奇迹；应县木塔凌空高耸，纯木结构承载千年智慧。五台山层峦叠翠，是踏青休闲的理想之地。一路行来，石窟、古建、山川交相辉映，感受中华营造技艺的博大精深。

This route centers on ancient architectural art, offering a journey reading an epic poem of Chinese ancient architecture. The Yungang Grottoes present magnificent Northern Wei sculptures that amaze the world; Huayan Temple boasts majestic halls showcasing the grandeur of Liao and Jin dynasty architecture. Strolling through Datong Ancient City, you’ll experience a millennium of life amidst its ancient walls and streets. The Hanging Temple, precariously built on a cliff, has stood as a marvel for a thousand years. The Yingxian Wooden Pagoda towers high, its timber structure embodying a millennium of wisdom. Wutai Mountain, with its layered peaks and verdant scenery, is an ideal spot for a spring hike. During the Qingming season, embark on a cultural journey with your children that blends education with fun. Mengshan Mountain, lush with vegetation, is perfect for family-friendly light hiking and connecting with nature. Jinci Temple, with its ancient cypress trees and flowing clear springs, offers a chance to explore the cultural heritage of Shanxi within a garden setting. Qiao’s Family Compound, with its intricately carved beams and painted rafters, provides a glimpse into the legacy of Shanxi merchants. Experience the majestic beauty at the summit of the Taihang Mountains. House of the Huangcheng Chancellor combines a grand castle with an academy, steeped in cultural history. Situ Town, filled with lively local atmosphere, gathers intangible cultural heritage and delicious cuisine. Wangmang Ridge, with its surging sea of clouds, is hailed as the “Supreme of Taihang.” Xiyagou Cliff-Hanging Road, cutting through sheer cliffs, embodies the spirit of perseverance. Baquan Gorge features emerald waters and thrilling plank paths suspended on cliffs. This route takes you through ancient castles, towering peaks, and deep gorges, offering a comprehensive view of the majestic and scenic landscapes of the Taihang Mountains.
